Developers respond to worries about Foundry Lea flooding after recent heavy rain and overflowing River Simene near Bridport.

They started building 760 homes there last year. People worry about the site and flooding. They fear it can’t handle all the rainwater. The water drains into the Simene and floodplain. With nowhere to go, it floods.
West Bay could also be affected. The developers answered the worries about flooding. They say the project didn’t get delayed.
Barratt David Wilson Homes spoke about it. They worked with the agency during planning. They made sure to consider flood risks. The development has flood protection features too.
It has bridge arches for flood levels. Roads are raised, and the base drains water. They also control water flow upstream. During the rain, teams worked elsewhere on the site. So, work kept moving, even with the weather.
