Phoenix Martial Arts School offers free classes in Surfleet, empowering women with essential self-defense skills.

He now teaches at his school, called Phoenix Martial Arts School. Bob started it in 2020, teaching both kids and older adults. Women expressed a desire to feel safer, so Bob created this course. He and his daughter, Summer, teach together. Bob ran a free four-week course last year and wants to do it again.
Bob said self-defense is important, and the increased demand from women, likely prompted by news stories, motivated him. He wants to help without profiting from it. The Phoenix school is located in Surfleet.
The course teaches key skills, including footwork, trigger signs, and how to react if grabbed. Participants will learn how to strike back and use joint locking techniques.
Classes take place at Tonic 44 Hub on Station Road in Surfleet. Classes begin Tuesday, March 11, in the evening and last for one hour. The school teaches both adults and children.
Summer Bryan is 21 years old and is working toward her black belt. Bob and Summer train together often, sharing a love for martial arts. Bob always wanted his own school and Summer has helped him since day one, teaching alongside her job.
