Scots couple Dawn Kerr and Andrew Searle found dead in France. Police investigate possible murder-suicide or third-party involvement.

The couple had lived there about ten years. People said they fit well into the community. Police did a post-mortem exam to check things out. They said Mr. Searle died from hanging himself. Ms. Kerr took blows to her head.
A blunt and sharp object caused these injuries. Investigators are doing more tests right now. They want to figure out what really happened and if one person murdered, then committed suicide. Or perhaps a third person killed them.
Money problems could be a motive, or maybe something from their past. Mr. Searle’s LinkedIn page says he stopped working. He used to investigate fraud cases, focused on preventing financial crime. Standard Life and Barclays Bank were previous employers.
Ms. Kerr’s body was only partially clothed. She was at the front of their house. Firefighters found Mr. Searle at the back before calling the police.
The property seemed like someone had searched it lightly. Police found cash and jewelry in the couple’s room. Officers have not found any weapons so far.
Dawn and Andrew are parents of actor Callum Kerr. He played PC George Kiss on “Hollyoaks.” Callum was also in Netflix’s “Virgin River.” Callum’s social media shared this news on February 8.
The statement then asked for privacy, which is understandable. It said no one from his family could speak to the media. The family will share information when they can.
The UK Foreign Office spoke too, saying they help the family of the British couple. They are in contact with the local authorities in France.
One local woman knew the couple and called them “exceptional people.” They were well-known and loved in Villefranche, having lived there for about ten years. She spoke to the PA news.
She said everyone in town is shocked and devastated, adding that the town is traumatized about it. These people were part of the community. The couple made a meal for their neighbors once a year.
Everyone would visit and eat with them. She also mentioned Villefranche is usually a very quiet place. She cries and shakes just talking about it, feeling very sad.
People are “disgusted” by the whole situation. Dawn and Andrew were parents and grandparents. She thinks the police and army are working hard and has noticed many officers near Les Pesquies.
