Edinburgh and Glasgow consider new funding talks with UK & Scottish govts, seeking support for infrastructure and job creation.

Edinburgh and Glasgow councils started some chats. They are talking to the UK and Scottish governments. They want to create new funding schemes, like a follow-up type deal.
Paul Lawrence spoke at a finance meeting. He said funding these problems is hard and thinks it’s difficult to do alone. Edinburgh began talks about a new city deal, and Glasgow wants to do the same.
Lawrence wants a three-way talk where cities, the UK, and Scotland should talk. Region issues like transport require discussion. He hopes to share risks in funding between public and private groups.
The Scottish government gave their view. The £1.3 billion Edinburgh deal finishes in 2033. It supports jobs in several areas, and over 21,000 jobs are expected in Edinburgh and nearby. They talk with regional groups often.
The UK government also commented on things. The Scottish Secretary had good talks with people from all regions. They talked about creating growth locally. These talks will keep going on.
