James Wilson murdered Ryan Willcox, 21, in Glasgow after a dispute about a dog’s paw. He faces a life sentence.

Jurors found Wilson guilty. He now faces a life sentence for murder. Next month, Wilson will learn his minimum jail time. Mercy crews went to a Stravanan Road property after the attack occurred there. Ryan was lying hurt in the garden.
A neighbor saw Wilson pacing nearby. The neighbor described him as agitated and worried. Wilson knelt by Ryan and asked a paramedic if he could help.
PC Lisa O’Neill arrived at the scene. She spoke with Wilson, who was under bail conditions, and was not allowed on Stravanan Road. Leanne McQuillan, the prosecutor, questioned PC O’Neill. She asked about Wilson’s statements.
The officer noted Wilson said: “He stood on the dog’s paw. We were arguing about it. He had the knife. We got in a fight. Then this happened,” Wilson stated, pointing at the injured Ryan on the ground.
PC O’Neill described Wilson’s demeanor, telling jurors: “He didn’t seem panicked then. Maybe calm. He just said what he believed.” After the verdict, McQuillan shared victim impact statements written by Ryan’s family.
The judge postponed the case until April 9 in Livingston. Lord Scott addressed Wilson directly, stating: “They convicted you of murder. Only a life sentence is fitting.” Wilson remains in custody right now.
