The Glen Sannox ferry is out of service after a crack was found in its hull, prompting CalMac to cancel sailings.

Another ferry, MV Alfred, will help travelers, though Alfred could have delays. The Glen Sannox had its first voyage on January 13, going from Troon to Brodick.
This ferry was very late and cost much more, with the final cost exceeding £400m, significantly higher than the original price of £97m. Nicola Sturgeon launched it in 2017, even though it wasn’t fully built then, and it had fake windows during the launch.
The Glen Sannox had work done last month and returned to service earlier this month; the Ferguson Marine shipyard built it, and the government took over the yard in 2019.
The Glen Rosa ferry is also delayed and is expected to be done in September, though the shipyard boss said it might be late. The crack is on a weld seam, near the water, necessitating a dive team to check it out.
This check will happen on Saturday morning, allowing a team to fully assess the issue. After that, they will share more information and explain any needed repairs because all Saturday sailings are now cancelled. CalMac apologizes for the trouble.
