Hey, guess what’s happening? The Golden Cross Hotel has a beer festival on High Street, lasting twelve days. It starts Wednesday, March 5, and goes to Sunday, March 16.

They’ll have thirty real ales to try, including five from international brewers. All the overseas brewers are women, representing Italy, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and the USA.

These beers are new to the pub, and the festival showcases a selection of great beers. These include some from far-off places, such as Australia and New Zealand, plus beers closer to home.

Some beers were made just for the festival, and vegan beers are available, which also work for vegetarians. The beers have varied malts and hops, with some even using cherries and cocoa beans.

Each pint costs £2.15. Terrapin Brewery (USA) made Hey Pal, and Land & Sea Brewery (Canada) offers Estuary Session Ale. Penny Red Brewery (Australia) created Wallaby, while Birra Perugia Brewery (Italy) has Chocolate Porta. Brew Moon Brewery (New Zealand) brings Antiopdean.

Other featured beers include Alpha Female, Loopy Loo, and Chase the Sun. You can also try Cherry Nice and Queen of Hearts, while Mocha Porter, Grand Union, and Blossom will be there too.

You can get three third-pint tasters for the same cost as one pint. The festival also has tasting notes, which you can find in a festival magazine.

Order your ales at the bar, or you can also use the Wetherspoon app.
