Richard and Gill picked a local hospice as their charity. Their friends and relatives have used their care, and they wanted to support a local group. Many club members’ lives were touched by them.

Richard mentioned some members used their services; Grove House in St Albans was helpful. The club knew everyone would support it. Richard and Gill started their roles at the club.

They had a “drive-in” event which marked the start of their terms. They used it to begin fundraising, with sponsorship and an auction helping them. Next up is the London Bridges Walk in March.

Richard said he signed up with Pam Olden and Jane, with Jane being his wife and Pam being a golfer. He thinks the London Bridges Walk is a good fit. He used to do marathons but not anymore.

He thinks a walk through London sounds fun, and it will kick off their fundraising. Gill said club events will fundraise all year, relying on the same people for help.

The London Bridges Walk lets them get sponsors. Friends and family outside the club can donate. So far, they raised over £1,500 for the walk.

The London Bridges Walk occurs on March 9, 2025. People can walk five or ten miles, and both routes go by famous London bridges.

Richard wants to raise a lot for the charity and hopes to do it through various events. Club members are generous, says Richard, knowing they will support Rennie Grove Peace.

He feels fundraising builds community at the club. It also provides crucial funds for a local charity. It’s a win for everyone, according to Richard.
