The Whitchurch Silk Mill received a grant from Four Lanes Trust to enhance its gardens with new tools.

The Whitchurch Silk Mill got a £500 grant from the Four Lanes Trust. They used this money to buy gardening tools, supplied by C&M DIY of Andover. This helps keep the mill’s gardens nice and welcoming.
The mill is unique in Britain, where visitors can see silk woven on old looms. Volunteers work hard in the gardens, which visitors enjoy all year.
With the grant, the mill bought several things including a lawn mower, hedge trimmer, rakes, and spades. They also purchased tubs, waste bags, shears, a scoop, and a broom.
These new tools will greatly improve the efficiency of the gardening team. Mill director Susan Tapliss thanked the Four Lanes Trust for the funding, noting the timely arrival of the tools.
She also acknowledged the significant help from C&M DIY, emphasizing the mill’s support for this family business. The gardens will be easier to care for, and the right tools will help maintain their beauty.
Trustee Penny Way mentioned the positive reviews the gardens receive, highlighting their contribution to the mill’s reputation. Nice gardens encourage repeat visits, and volunteers are ready to work, expressing their gratitude to the Trust and C&M DIY.
The mill is open Tuesday to Sunday, including Bank Holiday Mondays. They host school groups, workshops, and many educational activities, making it a vital resource for the community.
