In January 2023, a group met at the Angel Hotel. Tim Harrison brought these people together because they thought Grantham was failing and felt the Conservatives badly led the SKDC.

They wanted to make things better and decided to run in the May election to have a voice. Seven of them were elected.

They became good friends, and Grantham Independents began. Two had local government experience, while others had different professional backgrounds. Patsy Ellis joined them later, and now, eight people are in the group.

They want big changes for Grantham and talk to people in the community to remove old problems. Residents see them as effective, as they want to get things done quickly.

The Opposition struggles with them and seeks to compete. They need better challenges to help the community, and these challenges should not be petty.

The Grantham Independents support the current leader, Ashley Baxter, who shows dynamic leadership. Here are some completed projects in Grantham: a new customer service center opened, and housing repairs improved quickly.

A new refuse depot has begun construction, Conduit Lane toilets are open, and Grantham Market Place got improvements. The opening event in the market was successful, and the Christmas lights event was big.

Money is ready for 2025 events. Grantham Market improved on Saturdays, and Earlesfield Community Center reopened. Beeden Park play area is also open.

The Guildhall roof is getting fixed, and foot traffic and trade increased in town. “Bread and Butter” offers food packages on Fridays, and it opens in Harrowby on February 3rd.

The Grantham Independents include Tim Harrison, Ian Selby, Phillip Gadd, and Chris Noon. Patsy Ellis, Elvis Stooke, Steven Cunnington, and Paul Stokes complete the group.

They care about Grantham and will push important projects forward. They want to know what you think; information regarding the town council will arrive next month.
