Police address youth anti-social behavior in Grantham. Increased patrols and business support planned.

A group of unruly teens is bothering people downtown. Police in Lincolnshire are focusing on this issue, which involves youth misbehavior in Grantham. This includes problems in parks and shops too. It’s a priority from January to March, following many recent town center problems.
PC Karl Cinevas, Grantham’s community beat manager, spoke about it. He said a small group is often present, usually five or six young people. Their behavior changes, but it’s usually in groups. It involves assaults and property damage, and they also cause public disturbances sometimes, including yelling, swearing, bad behavior, and violence.
PC Cinevas said it affects visitors too and impacts people moving around Grantham. They looked at the problem from the victim’s view, then checked that against the data. Some incidents seem minor alone, but those incidents seem important together. The case went to a special meeting where agencies work together to find solutions that will not just rely on police enforcement.
Some teens are facing legal action, while others get help from the Futures for Me team. Police are also patrolling problem areas, and they use foot and cycle patrols sometimes. Police work with businesses to control misbehavior, and maintaining good relationships helps a lot. Businesses should report problems quickly, and they advise stores on how to avoid problems. Good CCTV cameras can really help.
People should contact Lincolnshire Police at 101 to report any experiences with bad behavior.
