Councillor Stacey Cunnington steps down, marking the latest departure from Grantham Town Council.

Cunnington is the second to leave since the town council began last May. Kevin Doughty left in July due to poor health. The Guildhall sits in Grantham.
The council worried about money after Doughty left because a by-election could cause financial issues, especially considering the council was newly formed.
Tim Harrison resigned last month too. He was the chairman and was replaced by Marie Reid, who is the new chairperson. She is also an independent councillor.
A by-election may happen soon for the Grantham St Vincent’s seat. Ten ward voters must request one within two weeks, and the request goes to the returning officer.
When ten people ask, they hold an election. This by-election happens fast, within 60 days starting after the notice.
If people don’t want an election, the council picks someone to fill the open spot by co-option.
