Flintshire Council approved a plan for homes in Gronant, despite concerns about parking & safety.

The plan converts and extends the building, creating eleven apartments and townhouses. They will build three new homes on the old car park.
This decision faced strong local opposition. People sent 89 letters objecting to the project. A petition with 91 signatures also surfaced.
Locals worried about parking and lost privacy. They used to park at the institute with permission, but the new sale ended this parking agreement. Roads nearby now face parking issues.
Sian Humphreys raised safety worries, noting that emergency vehicles struggle on narrow roads, posing some real danger. Andrew Farrow suggested approving the project anyway, stating the highways department had no problems.
Bernie Attridge and Chris Bithell agreed with the plan. Twelve people voted yes, and four voted against it. They approved the plan with conditions.
Fifteen percent of the homes will be affordable. The developer must pay over £11,000 to improve Gronant’s play areas and this must happen before they build.
The site includes a local war memorial. This memorial will remain untouched.
