GT Tyres started in 1977. Cameron Gordon and his relatives founded it. They began with a small shop at Newmill, Keith. In 1980, they expanded to Forres and Huntly.

The Keith branch closed in 2013. Huntly closed in 2017. Operations then focused in Forres. George always liked cars. In 2005, he asked Cameron about job openings.

He remembers getting tires at GT as a kid. He also bought wheels there for his first car. George went to Michelin Tyre Academy in 2014. He was the only Scottish technician selected. He trained at their facility in Stoke-on-Trent.

George remembers working at all three GT locations in one day. He is still keen on tires and wheel alignment. George wants customers to feel informed. He believes the industry is very technical now. They focus on very high standards for customer service.

George and Gary are just two of the friendly faces there. Cameron Gordon retired in 2021. David and Joanne Philip, a farming family, now own GT Tyres. Dave and Joey have invested in the business.

George says this has made the business better. They treat the team well. This is reflected in the staff’s devotion. GT Forres also has a wheel alignment bay. They do ADAS calibration, exhausts, brakes, and batteries.

George loves working with Gary. Gary is a hard worker and senior technician. George says they shared a lot together. Gary is always the first to arrive. He’s also always the last to leave the job site.

Gary comes from a farming background. His role at GT was meant to be temporary. He would help with tires while doing chemical deliveries. Instead, he became a full-time employee. He built a great reputation over time. Gary enjoys his job a lot. He takes pride in his work.

Some customers have been with him for decades. He deals with grandfathers, fathers, and sons.
