Aimee Hetherton, Hair by Aimee Hetherton, is a finalist in the York Press Best Hairdresser 2024. She is one of ten chosen.
People can vote until March 1 to select their Best Barber or Hairdresser 2024, voting with copies of The Press newspaper. The winner gets announced the week of March 10. Each newspaper copy will profile a business, explaining why they deserve to win.
Aimee Hetherton runs Hair by Aimee Hetherton, which she started six years ago. Her mom’s death inspired her to start it. Aimee started hairdressing at age 13, working Saturdays.
Then she went to York College. Kudos salon helped and supported her from start to finish. She then worked at other salons and built her client base.
Aimee decided to become self-employed after losing her mom, a change she calls the best decision ever. Aimee has owned her business for six years and rents space in a salon now. She has done hair for 14 years and really loves her job.
She specializes in coloring hair and wedding styles. Aimee works at the salon, but also travels to London and Rome for photoshoots. She enjoys helping York clients feel beautiful.
Aimee wants people to feel happy after leaving, believing good hair makes people feel better. Life can be hard for many folks. She says she has amazing clients who support her and recommend her constantly to others.
Being a finalist touched her and made her feel grateful. Aimee wants to open her own salon soon and is already planning it now. She feels very excited about this new adventure and also wants to hire a small team.
She wants to grow her business more. Aimee hopes to host wedding hair classes and teach hairdressing students, something she did once with York College.
