Hey, guess what happened in Halesworth? They have a new footbridge! Remember the old one? They closed it for safety reasons.

So, Suffolk Highways built a new bridge. It is called Blyth Bridge, also known as White Bridge. They had a ribbon-cutting ceremony last Friday. It’s finally open!

Construction started last autumn, but it got delayed a few times. Storm Darragh flooded the whole site back in December. They also had to move some water voles. Those are a threatened animal.

Plus, workers removed Himalayan Balsam, an invasive plant. A council member, Paul West, spoke about the bridge. He mentioned its importance to the community.

Many groups care about the bridge. For example, the Millenium Green Trust uses it. The bridge connects to the Millennium Green.

That green space is huge, over 55 acres! The Trust uses the bridge for mowing equipment. Paul West and another council member, Annette Dunning, cut the ribbon together.

Everyone worked really hard to build it. The council thanked everyone involved. Suffolk Highways has been busy. They just opened another bridge. It’s in Bardwell, and they finished it last month.
