A man was jailed for weapon possession in a Hammersmith murder case. A woman was found dead in her flat following a break in.

Officers got inside the flat. They found a 36-year-old woman who had died, likely from a head injury. Police think this is what happened. A 38-year-old man got arrested there. Police suspected him of murder at the time.
The man was formally charged later on, and he admitted to having a weapon. He received a jail sentence of 42 weeks. They released him on bail; this relates to the murder charge against him.
Ollie Stride leads the police investigation. He is a Detective Chief Inspector who said they are sad about the young woman’s death and will help her family.
Stride knows this affects the community, and police are figuring out exactly what happened and doing what they can. Stride asks for help from the public; did anyone see or hear things that would have been unusual on February 9th?
If they did, he asks them to contact the police. They can call 101 with CAD number 6487/9Feb. People can also contact Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
