Warrington approves plan to maintain low bus fares until 2025, encouraging ridership and clean transport.

The plan keeps bus fare costs down. A single ride costs £2 for adults and only £1 for those under 22. Launched in 2022, these fares became popular and will now stay until the end of 2025.
The council wants to keep these low fares, and they are exploring options beyond 2025. At the meeting, the 2025-26 bus plan got approved and will soon be sent to the government. The plan includes more improvements.
Warrington got over £22 million since 2022, which supports their new electric bus fleet and ensures first-class bus service. This round gives Warrington £3.8 million while the government invests £148 million in the North West.
Council leader Hans Mundry spoke at the meeting, describing Warrington’s new buses as good news. He also highlighted the new bus depot and the new bus stops.
Mundry stressed keeping fares low encourages bus use instead of cars. He wants buses to be cheap and comfy so clean buses mean better rides for people, therefore buses become a pleasant experience.
