Dominic Legg hurt people in Hartlepool. These crimes happened over four years, where he sexually assaulted and raped his victims, causing them deep trauma. The crimes occurred, according to Teesside Crown Court.

Legg, who is 19, got a sentence; the court initially gave him five years, nine months to be served at a young offenders’ institute. However, the Court of Appeal changed it, and now he must spend eight years in custody.

Detective Inspector Lou Sproson, who works for Hartlepool CID, spoke on the case. She is happy about Legg’s increased sentence, saying it accurately demonstrates the seriousness of the crimes. The officers, the victims, and their families also welcome this change.

Legg’s victims were very young, between ten and fifteen years old. It is important to note that Legg was also underage when it started, nearing age twelve at the time.

The victims shared their stories and described the abuse’s devastating effect. Dominic Legg’s actions shattered their lives and deeply wounded their families.

One victim wrote about her intense pain, sharing that Legg broke her physically and mentally. It profoundly hurt her life, and she will always feel regret for not acting sooner, remembering herself as a vulnerable young girl.

Another victim had to undergo therapy because of Legg’s actions. Initially, she was unable to even speak about the crimes, and she now lives with the daily fear of it happening again, finding normal living hard to handle.

The court found him guilty on thirteen charges from three victims. The charges included rape, sexual assault, and participating in sexual activity with a child.

Legg lived on Harrow Street. As a result of his crimes, he must stay on the sex offenders’ register forever. He also received restraining orders, preventing him from contacting the victims.
