Hey, so a landslip happened on Haslingden Old Road. This happened after some really heavy rains. Remember all those floods earlier this year? A supporting wall and part of the road collapsed.

The road is closed because it’s unsafe. Even with traffic lights, it’s too dangerous. They made a new detour. Cars/small trucks and bigger trucks use different routes now.

There is also a route for people walking or biking. They said they will keep watching this route. Fixing the road will be hard. They think it will stay closed all next year.

A council member spoke about the project. He said the project is complex, and that they are in the beginning stages. They can’t guess when it will be done.

He repeated that the road is not safe, and that this will likely be the case for a while. Right now, they are checking the site and surveying it for a solution.

They need to find out why the road failed. This helps develop a real fix. Follow the detour signs if you travel there. He asks that everyone be patient while they address it.
