Council rejects Haven House Inn plans to add a terrace roof and storage due to conservation concerns.

The council said no to both things. A planning officer thought it would hurt the area because it impacts the Mudeford Quay Conservation Area, you see.
The inn wanted a retractable roof made of aluminium and glass that would cover about 45 square meters, believing the changes would help customers.
The town council didn’t reply to the plans, so BCP Council made the call solo. The area has many extensions already, one officer noted.
The officer didn’t like the terrace enclosure idea at all, thinking it would overwhelm the inn and block the view of a historic building. It wouldn’t help the area’s vibe and the officer felt it detracts from the building itself.
The planning officer believed the glass awning would harm the area. The storage extension design was also a problem. Its location felt awkward near other building extensions.
The officer stated it was poor development and would negatively affect the area’s character. The council rejected both improvements.
