Police warn of illegal e-scooter use on public roads and paths in Haverhill, citing threats and arrests.

On January 25th, police got two reports. Youths in balaclavas on e-scooters made threats. This happened near Newt Pond, off School Lane. Police arrested two young people and released them on bail.
Hollands said e-scooters cause trouble now because they are cheaper and more common. He says don’t ride scooters on public areas and to think about how e-scooters affect others.
If your family has one, help monitor its use since e-scooters are illegal there and dangerous. They can harm the rider and others. You can only ride them on private land with the owner’s permission.
Hollands asks gift-givers to think first and consider how the scooters get used. Think about the dangers they pose and imagine older people walking, or parents pushing strollers because e-scooters are a nuisance to them.
Younger people mostly use these scooters. Hollands said police will stop offenders, take the e-scooters, and prosecute those who break the law.
