Five Havering pubs have reopened after refurbishments. Changes include new seating, bars and updated decor.

The Albion is on Rainham Road. This Flaming Grill pub got a big update that cost a six-figure sum. It shut down in January and reopened on February 3, with improvements both inside and out, and more seating.
The Ardleigh is on Ardleigh Green Road. It closed for almost three weeks for work, shutting on August 19 and reopening on September 6. The bar area was updated by the pub chain Ember Inns, and now looks brighter and more modern. The pub has a new bar and seats, and the dining area is also larger.
The Thatched House is on St Mary’s Lane. This old pub reopened last May after being closed for updates. Vintage Inns says people enjoy the changes, which include a beer garden, new seats and better lighting.
Yates is on Romford’s South Street. Craft Union Pub Company updated it last year, reopening on March 12 after what they called a “revitalising transformation.” There’s now a pool table, new entertainment and more drinks. The new manager, Eliza Griva, has more plans, including raffles, student nights, and LGBTQIA+ nights, to keep it a local spot.
The Moon & Stars is a Wetherspoons pub also located on South Street. It closed on July 1 for major work, including changes to the building’s structure. The reopening was delayed about three months. They narrowed pillars to make more space, installed new gambling machines, and updated the roof terrace.
