More than 50 firefighters battled a large fire affecting business properties, with road closures and a continued investigation.

Firefighters from three local stations arrived first. Then, crews from nine more stations joined them. They used special platforms to fight the fire.
At one point, fifty-four firefighters were at the scene. Thirteen fire engines showed up. Also needed were response vehicles, and aerial platforms. Fourteen support vehicles were there, too.
Roads closed from Enterprise Drive to The Hayes. Stour Vale Road shut down from Hayes Lane to Bromley Street. This made fighting the fire easier.
Firefighters stayed all night to put out the big fire. This update came Sunday morning from the Fire Service. The fire hit business properties on Hayes Lane. Four crews stayed on Sunday to watch for hot spots.
They kept roads closed, but police reopened them when safe. Closures happened throughout the day. The power company fixed power for nearby buildings. Now, they are investigating what started the fire. It’s still not clear what caused it.
