A headteacher has been remanded in custody following an alleged assault at a secondary school in South Wales.

Anthony John Felton, aged 54, went to court and faced charges in Swansea Magistrates’ Court. He is accused of intent to wound.
Police went to St Joseph’s school on March 5, responding in the morning. The school is in Aberavon, South Wales.
Felton confirmed his identity in court, stating his name, birthdate, and address. The hearing was quite short, and he did not enter a plea.
The court said the case goes to Crown Court, where Felton must appear on April 7. He will enter a plea there and prepare for trial.
Felton’s solicitor did not request bail, and District Judge Christopher James sent Felton to custody. Felton resides on Penyrheol Road in Gorseinon, Swansea.
The judge directed him to Crown Court for the trial, and he remains in custody until April 7.
The alleged victim is 51 years old. Police said the victim left the hospital with fortunately minor injuries.
Felton became headteacher in September 2023, according to a report released by the governing body.
