Ian Jameson, 54, died in a Hersden house fire. Family tributes call him the best husband, dad, and grandad.

Floral tributes appeared at his home this week. It is located on The Avenue near Canterbury. Mr. Jameson had Covid and was in a coma before he died from smoke inhalation, reports say. He was 54 years old, and his pets, Benson and Luna, also died.
His family added that he was taken too soon. They asked God to care for Benson and Luna. His brother and sister-in-law spoke, saying Ian was an incredible and kind man. He made people laugh easily, and they have countless memories.
Ian would do anything for his family. He was a loyal brother, uncle, and great uncle. His family is grateful for him and will never forget his laugh. He will live on in their memories, and his sister-in-law called him “funny, witty and loving.”
Fire crews went to the house Friday at 8:50 p.m., finding the fire already out. They made the scene safe. The fire started on an accidentally turned-on hob, and items near the hob caught fire. The fire service said the fire was accidental.
Police do not think his death was suspicious and are preparing a coroner’s report. A window at the home is now boarded up. A fundraiser helping his wife Gail has already collected over £5,000. He had damaged lungs from past COVID, which made smoke inhalation worse.
His COVID battle strained them financially. He could no longer work, and Gail became his carer. They lacked life insurance. Fortunately, the fundraiser will ease Gail’s worries and assist with funeral arrangements. He was a wonderful person.
In 2020, he battled COVID and went to the hospital. He was in a coma for two weeks, and Gail could not visit. Medical staff relayed messages. After five weeks, he went home, and staff applauded his discharge. He reunited with Gail, and they planned to renew vows and invite NHS staff.
