Hey, guess what’s happening on Fore Street? Someone wants to change that old building into apartments. It’s number 28A, a really old spot, actually. It’s even listed!

Phonebox (Hexham) Limited proposed the idea. They want to make four flats inside. There will be two one-bedroom apartments, and two having two bedrooms.

They will get rid of the metal shutter and doors. Instead, they’ll put in a wooden door that will look like other old doors nearby. This will make the building match the street.

Inside, they won’t change much. Modern walls will come out and be replaced; the new layout will create the apartments. No original walls are impacted by this change however.

They plan to fix the windows. The outside won’t change much, only the shutter will go, and then the new door shows up to replace it.

They made a similar plan before in 2022, and that one actually got approved. This new one is supposed to be even better, too.

The proposal aims to keep the building in good shape and to respect its old style. Most work involves modern stuff already there.

The biggest change we will see is actually the new front door. Also, the application is currently awaiting a decision, having been sent on February 3 to the council.
