Hexham Restaurant Week, March 3-9, aims to boost local eateries with special deals and attract tourists. Seventeen are in.

Restaurants will offer special deals, with fixed-price menus and discounts available. Newcastle’s Restaurant Week boosts the economy, bringing in over £2 million each year, with more than 100 venues participating.
Hexham has many great, independent restaurants, and Elise thinks this event is great for the town. It could benefit businesses and attract tourists. Elise has worked in hospitality since age 15, and has lived in Hexham even longer. Her marketing degree helps with planning.
The event runs from March 3 to 9, and seventeen restaurants are already participating. More may join soon, she hopes. Participating restaurants include some great names such as The Beaumont Hotel and Cilantro. Brocksbushes, Vercilli, and The Boatside Inn are also participating.
A website will feature all restaurants year-round. Elise wants to support their success and is offering this service free of charge. Jordan Dodwell and Sean Elliott assisted Elise, providing their time, advice, and skills as local business owners.
Social media pages quickly gained 80,000 views, and James Middleton supports the event. He co-owns The Boatside Inn. Nabil Aziz, who directs Cilantro, said Newcastle’s event was a success. His restaurant is in both Hexham and Newcastle, and they hope for a successful event in Hexham.
Brocksbushes is also excited to participate, wanting to showcase their local food, and they opened a new Farm Shop last summer. Janie French, who works for Visit Hexham, thinks the event will be a success, noting that people are talking about it in town.
