A developer faces action for not planting trees on a Heybridge housing development, breaching a planning permit.

Persimmon argues that Maldon needs more houses and that the field is a suitable location. They believe this construction would benefit local residents.
Local residents have voiced their opposition, signing a petition with over 600 signatures. They are concerned about the impact on wildlife, as the field is home to endangered animals. They fear the displacement of these animals.
The appeal hearing is scheduled for February 18th, commencing at 10am. It will take place at the Maldon District Council Offices, and the public is welcome to attend.
Separately, the Council has taken action against Persimmon regarding a past housing project near Swifts Boulevard. They allege that Persimmon failed to maintain the landscaping as required.
According to the Council, Persimmon violated a condition attached to a building permit issued on June 24, 2015, which covered 145 houses and gardens. That housing development is now complete, and residents access their homes via Swifts Boulevard.
The Council has given Persimmon four months to rectify the landscaping situation. This includes replacing dead trees, planting missing trees, and providing proper care for all trees, according to the original plan. Failure to comply is a crime, and the Council may prosecute them swiftly to resolve the issue.
Persimmon has stated that they regularly monitor the trees. They acknowledged that some trees did not thrive last summer and that the Council contacted them. They assured the council that they will replant trees this season.
