A driver received a ban and community service after being caught driving under the influence on the M40.

Warwickshire Police stopped the driver and arrested him at Warwick Services. They subsequently gave him a breathalyzer test.
The court sentenced the 38-year-old on January 22, 2025, with Leamington Spa Magistrates Court making the decision. He received a driving ban for over two years. He also received 200 hours of unpaid work.
He must abstain from alcohol for 120 days, and the work needs supervision. PC Simon Dalby thanked the public, as concerned people reported the driver after seeing him swerving on the M40. Other drivers helped protect people.
Police stopped him around 1 p.m. The breathalyzer gave a high reading, over three times the limit. The driver lost his job because of this.
PC Dalby said the public supports enforcement and that everyone is watching drivers. Drunk or drugged drivers are risky and may cause a serious crash.
Police will continue operations to promote safer roads for everyone and will arrest impaired drivers.
