Ipswich wants to update a local area. They have a budget of £1.4 million. This money comes from the Towns Fund Deal. The council wants to make it pedestrian-friendly.

The plan includes new green spaces. Public art will also feature, and they envision digital billboards. Taxi spaces reduce from 21 to 11.

Suffolk Highways reviewed the plan, stating they don’t object to it. However, they do have some suggestions for improvement. These suggestions go to the council and architects.

The council submitted the plans last January. The Highways Committee saw narrow sidewalks uphill, and they worry about space near Three Wise Monkeys.

Therefore, they want sidewalks at least two meters wide. This width should exist across the entire area.

They also want revised plans that need seating information. The council must specify the planned tree types in these plans.

Suffolk Highways also wants more lighting details. They understand the lighting changes, but they request further post information from the council.

The post locations concern them because the posts seem near drainage infrastructure. They need clarity on this situation.

Adrian Morris manages Unex nearby and is happy with the proposed changes. He supports the council’s plans.

Taxi drivers have concerns because they worry the plans will hurt business. Furthermore, disabled people may find taxi access harder.
