Developers advance housing plan, facing resident objections over traffic, flooding, and environmental impact. Council reviews 70+ complaints.

Then, the plan changed with the addition of a nature report. This change led to more complaints, as people worried about roads and flooding. Traffic and nature loss also concerned them.
Now, North Yorkshire Council checks the plan. People sent over seventy complaints, and the council received no support letters. A meeting happened in Hipswell Monday night, attended by more than thirty people.
Colburn Town Council studied the plans closely and likes the building quality. However, they don’t like the proposed building location. The council worries about putting houses in a small village and wants developers to consider the impact on wildlife.
Safety matters to village people, who believe more cars will affect all road users. Councillor Kevin Foster, representing the Hipswell and Colburn division, shared his concerns.
He indicated the road is very busy and kids use it to walk to school on a very narrow path. A low spot on the road often floods, and he added that the plan doesn’t follow local guidelines because the road network is already very crowded.
The plan includes open spaces, with builders noting a small meadow is also planned. They want to use woods for kids to play. The report says the plan uses land well, allowing good living for everyone, stated the team.
The builders plan to include different houses, including market rate and cheaper options. Most houses will be separate, single houses, while some will be joined together.
