Hobson & Porter modernizes Glen Lodge apartments in Heworth, improving accessibility and energy efficiency for older residents.

Hobson & Porter finished a new roof. They want to modernize the apartments. The goal is better access and comfort. They also aim for energy efficiency.
A team of 25 to 30 people works on the £3.2m project. They work on each apartment carefully. They want to finish on time and within budget.
Dave McCorrie works for Hobson & Porter. He said Glen Lodge needs modernizing. The team completed the concrete roof and put in new boilers too.
The project includes new wiring and plumbing. They are installing a low-energy heating system. They will improve insulation a lot and new windows are part of the plan.
New kitchens and bathrooms are coming. They will have accessible fittings. Three apartments will get garden access, with doors and patios to improve access.
Glen Lodge is near Glen Gardens, shops, and services. It is a popular place to live. You can find a post office and shops nearby.

They started work on Lime Trees. This new care home has 60 bedrooms and will open in 2026 in Clifton. Yorkare will run Lime Trees.
