All Saints Church in Holbeach marked its 800th birthday with a special service and community events, celebrating its rich history.

All Saints Church matters to Holbeach. It started way back in 1225 when Bishop Hugh of Wells approved the first priest.
Bishop Nicholas of Grantham led a Candlemass service there on Sunday, February 2nd. After the service, a group called Transported did an activity, making ceramic lanterns with people, showing sharing the light of Christ.
Rev. Sherine Angus is in charge. She thinks it’s amazing people have gathered and prayed as a community in Holbeach for 800 years.
The church wants new people to visit, Rev. Angus said it is everyone’s church. They planned many different events for the anniversary, including music, art, theatre, and school projects. This is to get even more people inside the historic building.
Rev. Angus said they have events for a year and want to bring light to Holbeach. The church is open daily; she mentioned it’s a quiet, peaceful place. They also plan a history project and want to create a great space for the next 800 years.
