A sixteen-year-old boy was found guilty of attempted murder. He attacked another boy, also sixteen, in Holbeach. The judge planned to sentence him on March 3.

The sentencing got delayed and was moved to March 31 at the request of the defense lawyer. The crime happened near William Stukeley Primary School.

The jury reached a verdict quickly, deliberating for under three hours. The boy showed little emotion at the guilty verdict, and Judge Hirst addressed him directly.

The judge said a report is needed from the youth service and requested an update on a psychiatric report. He also requested an updated impact statement from the victim.

The victim was found badly hurt with throat and chest wounds near the primary school. Police found him near the primary school. The attack occurred early July 28 last year.

The prosecutor, Stuart Lody, explained that the boys drank vodka bought by an adult. The victim passed out, and then the other boy attacked him.

The defendant claimed he didn’t recall the attack, only remembering putting the victim down near a red bench after they shared vodka. A teenage girl was present too.

The jury heard about a video call where the defendant used FaceTime to call a girl, holding an unbroken beer bottle. He threatened to slit the other boy’s throat.

He told the girl “his future is in your hands.” The girl then received a message saying “it’s on you,” which arrived at 1:22 am.

The victim was in critical condition and put in a coma at a hospital in Nottingham. They found him face down near a hedge.

The defendant had a history of mental health referrals and claimed he once assaulted a friend, also saying that he couldn’t remember it either.

The prosecutor questioned the boy, wondering if the blackouts were just an excuse to avoid responsibility. The defendant remains in custody locally.
