Expansion plans move forward despite opposition from the parish council and landscape groups over environmental impact.
The park wants to add ten lodges. These would sit near Woolacombe Bay Holiday Park. It is on Sandy Lane, in Brackenridge. The landscape group thinks the location is bad.
They say it’s already fairly developed. The land between the park and Poole Lane will shrink. They also think it ruins dark skies. It could disturb the peace. They believe it goes against plans, too.
Council officers made the decision. They focused on past permission. Someone wanted to build a big house with a pool. Construction never finished on the house.
The officers stated the house would be much bigger. They also said the lodges will be one story. The lodges cover more ground.
The Parish Council opposes the lodges. Other people wrote letters, too. They worry about the landscape. Concerns arose about noise and light. They also worry about traffic.
The holiday park company is Lancaster Trading. They want the lodges hidden by trees. They hope to keep the views nice. They expect just a few more people. Traffic will likely stay about the same.
The park already houses many visitors. This business started in the sixties. It employs 500 workers there. Permission for 50 more lodges happened in 2016.
The park needs a plan for lighting. They also need a plan for screening. They must make a nature area, too. It will help local wildlife.
