A homeless man died trying to enter a home. He starved to death after getting stuck. Khaled Aribi was the man’s name. He was an Algerian asylum seeker. An estate agent found his body in the home in Walthamstow, London.

Khaled was 32 years old. His finger got stuck in a skylight, and he was dead for a while before discovery. The coroner, Dr. Shirley Radcliffe, spoke in court and stated that his death had unusual circumstances. He was hanging from the ceiling.

CCTV showed him climbing the wall six days before they found him. Tests found cocaine and Pregabalin in his liver. His last address was near Euston station, but he did not live there when he died and had no permanent home.

He had mental health issues, and Camden and Islington helped him in 2023. He had anxiety and depression and was waiting for counseling when he passed. People considered him vulnerable and at risk of sexual exploitation.

Dehydration and starvation contributed to his death. Ketoacidosis, high blood acid from malnourishment, was another factor. The coroner spoke about the scene and mentioned stones near the skylight.

His hand seemed stuck in it, and he was trapped between the glass and stone. He tried entering the property via the skylight, but it closed on his fingers. He could not get free, and all other entry points were locked.

Dr. Radcliffe mentioned his asylum seeking. His mental health issues linked to his past, stemming from problems in his home country.
