The council and Jockey Club don’t like the plan. They think the plan uses a loophole about property changes, changes were meant for simple home fixes.
In 2023, the council got 30 change requests for 203 homes on the site. The council said no because the site was for business. This would stop those changes.
The developer appealed the council’s choice, saying the entire site was brownfield land, including 64 acres of paddocks. They won in May of last year.
Hugo Haig directs Lochailort. He said the site is good for homes and business, but the council does not agree.
He said they won the appeal. Haig said the site is not horse racing land and the council won’t talk to them. They want the land to stay empty.
Kentford has a train and local spots, making it good for new homes. The plan adds more things for everyone there.
