Pair stole car keys and a vehicle from a hotel, later discarding clothing. Both served time for their crimes.

Ashley Fairhurst and Kay Marriott went to court. They faced charges for burglary and vehicle theft. Both pleaded guilty at different times. Now, they have completed their sentences. They served time before their trials too.
Nicci Horton, a prosecutor, spoke at Fairhurst’s hearing. Car keys and a phone charger were stolen. These came from the hotel guest’s room. The VW Golf, with the clothing, was then taken last May.
Horton said Fairhurst admitted theft in September. He admitted burglary in December. Taking the car meant he took the clothing too. Fairhurst’s record started in 2005. He committed burglary as a juvenile. He had violence, theft, and robbery charges.
Before the hotel incident, he had non-dwelling burglaries. This earned him a twelve-month sentence in February 2023. He was on license at the time of the hotel break-in.
Cainan Lonsdale represented Fairhurst. He had been in custody since May 22nd. This amounted to nine months. Lonsdale acknowledged Fairhurst’s poor record. While in custody, Fairhurst took courses. He used available educational programs.
The court learned he has a drug worker appointment upon release. This will help him with substance misuse issues. Judge Jo Kidd was pleased with Fairhurst’s progress. She hoped his motivation would continue after release.
She gave him nine months. The time already served meant release soon would happen. He must remain under license supervision. Earlier in the week, Marriott, age 38, also appeared. She admitted burglary and vehicle theft. She made pleas on her trial date. She received five months in prison. She also should be released right away. This is due to time already served.
