A proposal suggests demolishing a dilapidated nursery in Hough Green to construct new detached houses.

Optimum Engineered Solutions sent in the plan. It’s just a basic idea right now. They didn’t show what the houses might look like. A report says the nursery is in bad shape.
The engineers couldn’t even get to the top floor! They said it’s falling apart from neglect. Theft, damage, and water really did a number. It even affected important building parts. Floors and the lower roof are badly damaged.
Checking everything well is tough. It’s hard to get to the first floor safely. They can’t fully assess the mess.
Remember last year’s plan for a car wash? They wanted to tear down the nursery then too. It got turned down and then dropped. The old car wash plan used portable cabins. They added a canopy for shelter.
They would’ve paved it for car cleaning. This would also drain water better. Councilor Phil Harris said many people were against the car wash.
Over ninety residents objected to it then. He and others voiced worries with the planning team.
We still don’t know when they will decide. They haven’t set a date for the new plans. It’s all up in the air still, I suppose.
