A plan for a three-bedroom house on Abbey Road, Darlington, has been submitted, featuring modern design and green features.

Big trees were in the garden before. The council approved their removal. The Fuat family sees this as a good chance to build. They have lived there about thirty years and want a smaller house now, in their area.
The garden is 641 square meters now. They currently use it as a normal garden. If okayed, cars will access it from Fife Cove, and parking will go from one spot to three spots.
The new house will have a cool look and a low, pavilion kind of design. Two wings with gardens inside are planned; these gardens bring light but keep things private.
The roof will be a butterfly style, matching nearby buildings. High brick walls along Fife Cove stay as they are, and the plan fits into an old preservation zone.
The main house at 35 Abbey Road stays put with no changes. They picked materials to match the area’s style. The build also has green features.
They will use a heat pump for warmth, and a green roof is coming to help nature. It also cuts rain flow and shields heat. Solar panels on the roof make power too.
The house is only one floor to block less sun. The distance and trees keep privacy good. The build avoids looking into other yards.
The council said building there made sense. They will decide on the plan soon.
