Plans for 115 homes near Ramsgate were rejected by a planning inspector due to safety and landscape concerns.

A developer wanted to build 115 homes. They planned it near Monkton Road on Foxborough Lane. Both councils rejected it. They worried about traffic, safety, and the farmland.
The developer, Gladman, appealed. But the Planning Inspectorate said no. The village is super happy about this decision. The council even spent money fighting it.
The council chair called it a “great result.” Others on Facebook are also celebrating. They say fighting together made a difference.
Gladman claimed it would be a nice area. They included play areas and green spaces. They said the government wants more homes built. They argued the council didn’t have enough housing.
The inspector, David Wallis, disagreed totally. He worried about pedestrian safety near the access. More people walking would increase accident risks. He said the area isn’t safe for pedestrians.
The inspector thought the building would hurt the landscape. He decided the harm was greater than the benefits. So, no new houses on the farmland!
