Rosie helped after a crash on January 11 involving two cars on the A19. A lorry then struck her and Mr. Welford, who drove one of the cars. A teenage boy in the Audi was seriously hurt.
The police chief said Rosie showed the best of police work by helping while off-duty. She stopped after finding the crash on the A19. Mr. Welford’s family said he was a loving man and a hard worker.
The lorry driver was arrested, suspected of dangerous driving. The driver is a 65 year old man from Berwick-upon-Tweed, and he was later released as they investigate.
