Shane Chapman, 34, admitted guilt in court. The Verwood resident faced assault and theft charges. He appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on July 19, 2024.

The charges relate to a hunting incident. This incident occurred on September 26, 2023, in the Minterne Magna area. This area is located in West Dorset.

Another court gave Chapman a five-year CBO. Weymouth Magistrates’ Court issued this order. It places several restrictions on Chapman’s actions.

He can’t act in an anti-social way or encourage others to do so. Anti-social behavior includes causing alarm, harassment, and distress. He needs permission to be on private farmland and must show this permission to police if asked.

He can’t enter farm buildings or yards, driveways, and gardens are also off-limits. He cannot cold call at homes or businesses; visits require appointments and agreement.

Chapman can’t possess wild animals in Dorset. Living or dead, he must prove their origin. He can’t have catapults or shot in public, and being in a vehicle with such items is also banned. He can’t attend any type of hunt, including planned or informal hunts.

He can’t be near hunt activities, and associating with people linked to hunts is forbidden. If near a hunt, he must leave at once.

Police Constable Sebastian Haggett, of the Dorset Police Rural Crime Team, commented. They will actively prevent rural crimes and want to protect local communities.

Haggett thanked the Dorset Council team, which handles anti-social behavior issues. They helped bring Chapman to court and made him accountable for his actions.

Haggett urged the public to contact the police to report any breaches of Chapman’s CBO. Police will investigate these reports.
