Hyndburn Council denied two planning applications. The committee meeting took place on Wednesday. One plan was for Altham, and the other was for Accrington. The council rejected a recommendation to approve them.

They cited highway safety and neighborhood amenity as key concerns. Cllr Clare Pritchard proposed both rejections; she represents Peel ward on the council.

Kara Manley sought permission for an Altham home. Her organization is 2gether 4children, and she wanted to use a house on Burnley Road known as Pendle View.

Ashan Arif, representing Care Services To You, wanted an Accrington home on Willows Lane. Arif plans to appeal the decision, believing the law supports his case.

Cllr Pritchard voiced concerns about the roads, believing they are very busy, and worried about the impact on locals. Adam Birkett advised caution about potential appeals.

The Altham plan involved a three-bedroom house for two children and one staff member. Rennie Pinder and Janice Ralph objected, citing parking and safety issues; the A678 is reportedly a busy road.

Cllr Judith Addison spoke about care homes in 2022, stating the house is wrong for the location. She stated that it should be detached and positioned on a quieter road.

The Accrington property has three bedrooms and was proposed to house one child aged eight to 17. Forty-five people signed a petition against it. Zohel Ali fears noise, disturbances, and anti-social behavior.

Cllr Munsif Dad noted parking and safety issues, mentioning a recent car accident into a nearby garden. Mr. Arif promised a well-run home with love and support as the goals. Cllr Pritchard remained in opposition.
