Hyndburn considers a tax rise of 2.99% to maintain services and free town parking in 2025/26, benefiting residents and shops.

She suggested £2.48 million more for spending. They want to invest £317,000 in parks. Disabled Facility Grants would get £1,359,906.
Buildings and vehicles get £115,000 in aid. ICT systems would gain £419,500. Accrington projects could see £177,800. War memorials get £87,000 for community work.
The council must raise council tax, she said. The increase should be the maximum of 2.00 percent. This will balance the budget for 2025/2026, she added.
A Band D home will pay £8.03 more a year. This is like paying 15p extra each week. Most Hyndburn homes are in Band A to C. This means most will pay £5.35 to £7.13 more. This is about 10p to 14p each week.
The tax money will help with rising costs. It will also help fund current services.
The council spends over £87,000 on parking. Residents and visitors park free now. They will keep parking free in Hyndburn. This helps town centers, she shared. People can shop locally more easily. They do not need to drive and pay elsewhere.
The county council will likely raise taxes. Look for a general 2.99 percent increase there. Adult care costs mean another 2 percent. That’s a £82.50 increase total.
Police costs will rise for Band D homes. Expect a £14.00 increase, confirmed by the commissioner. Fire services plan a £4.00 increase.
The council tax and budget still need approval. Hyndburn Council votes on February 27.
