Craig Yorke, 28, died in Eldon Lane. An inquest opened, revealing he died from stab wounds following an altercation.

Police got a call about a disturbance and found Craig, 28, a father of two. He died there. The inquest opened Tuesday, February 18, led by Jeremy Chipperfield at Crook Coroners’ Court, who confirmed Craig died from injuries.
During the four-minute hearing, Stephanie Clough stated Craig was in an altercation and suffered multiple stab wounds. Dr. Mulchay performed an autopsy December 14, 2024, at Newcastle RVI hospital. The autopsy revealed a stab wound to the chest caused his death. Louise Hutchinson, Craig’s mother, identified him December 15, 2024.
Connor Vint, 18, was arrested later that day. Two youths, ages 17 and 16, were also arrested, and their names are withheld for legal reasons. Harry Brown, 18, and Marley Roles, 20, were arrested four days later.
Five people will be tried in June, charged with Craig’s murder. They all pleaded not guilty last month at Newcastle Crown Court. Craig’s family shared a statement earlier, saying Craig loved his two girls, Sadie and Verity.
Craig loved to have fun, was very friendly, and always thought of others first. His family is heartbroken by this loss, and his death will leave a large void. The inquest stopped and will continue in July after the trial.
