William Gillespie gets 24 months for thefts across Inverness, fueled by drugs. Incidents spanned Apr-Sep 2024.

William, age 38, went on a crime spree because of drugs. Now he’s going to jail for two years, a sentence which began when he was already in Barlinnie prison during the trial.
He stole lots of stuff, including perfume, climbing gear, and alcohol. Clothing, an old clock, and electronics also vanished, adding up to thousands of pounds.
These crimes happened from April to September 2024, targeting sheds, garages, and cars around the city. Locations included Union Street, Lochalsh Road, Balnain Street, Inverlochy Crescent, and Telford Avenue.
Gillespie admitted to twelve charges which included theft and theft from a car. He also tried to break into places and broke his bail conditions.
Emily Hood, a fiscal depute, spoke in court about one car, explaining its window was broken and the boot was forced open, causing about £1200 in damage.
Shahid Latif, Gillespie’s lawyer, said Gillespie doesn’t recall the events because he was with bad influences and took drugs. According to Latif, Gillespie is sorry.
Sheriff Macdonald sentenced him to 24 months, starting on September 20th of last year, when Gillespie was first jailed. The Sheriff said his actions were bad overall and cause trouble for many people continually.
