Police find cocaine worth £1800 in an Inverness hotel room after stopping a car and arresting Luca Benchea.

Cops found drugs and cash with a total value of almost £2000. Benchea was already in jail, awaiting sentencing at Barlinnie prison.
Officers saw a crack pipe in the car, which made them suspicious. Emily Hood, a prosecutor, spoke in court and said police thought Benchea was high. They searched the car and found bags of white powder, along with £160 in cash. Benchea also had a hotel key on him.
The hotel was in Inverness and staff said Benchea stayed there, but he was no longer welcome. Police got permission to search the room, where they discovered more cocaine.
All the cocaine was in small bags with a street value of about £1800. There were 18 bags total.
Benchea confessed to drug dealing, admitting to supplying cocaine, a Class A drug. His sentencing is set for April 1, and a report is in progress.
Patrick O’Dea, his lawyer, will speak later to explain Benchea’s situation. Benchea remains in jail.
