A musical event in Inverness raised over £1000 for the Highland Hospice with Handel’s Messiah.

D James Ross and Sue Lightman planned it; this was “Messiah for All II.” The Inverness Symphony Orchestra also helped.
The event featured Handel’s music. It was a workshop held in Inverness Cathedral on January 11. Almost 250 singers joined in, and an orchestra of 45 players participated. Five local soloists performed as well, all donating their time.
James described the day’s events, explaining that they rehearsed in the morning. The afternoon featured a practice with everyone, and they performed for the public that evening.
Six hundred people attended the show, and it sold out fast. They opened the rehearsal to even more people, which also benefitted the Hospice.
Ultimately, the event raised £1038. James has raised over £9000 for the Hospice over time, working with several musical groups.
James thanked Sue and the orchestra, and also thanked everyone who attended. Despite frost and snow, “Three’s Company” plans their next event. It helps the Hospice, and it’s in Nairn this March.
Carrie Macdonald, who works for the Hospice, thanked James, Sue, and all who helped. Raising £9000 total is amazing and will truly help Highland patients.
